About Raised by Design

Raised by Design is a design and lifestyle blog about finding your personal style and tracing it back to your roots.

My name is Maggie Natarelli (hey there!) and I’m a designer, writer and stylist. I was Raised by Design: brought up by a builder and an artist in a Chicago suburb where art and architecture ruled. I studied History at the University of Massachusetts and Interior Design and Architecture at Parsons before working for a hospitality design firm in SoHo.

I live in a small house that my husband and I renovated when we were first married. It sits on a hill in a historic town on the Hudson River in New York. We share it with one baby boy and one old cat.

I’m a lifelong vintage collector (a hereditary trait in our family) with an unbiased love for beautiful and interesting things – from the most delicate Chinese porcelain to the creepiest decrepit doll head.

Aside from all that design stuff, I also love cooking, coffee, rap music, gift wrap, blue jeans and nature documentaries. If you’re searching for your personal style, I’m here for you, man! I hope we can be friends. Maybe we already are.
